Week 5 Overview – Fasting for Health, Healing & Wholeness


Fasting Focus

This week we will focus on personal health and well being. This involves improving our physical, emotional, spiritual and relational health as God desires for our lives.


During this week you should attempt to eat as healthy and naturally as possible in order to honor God with your body.  You should avoid all junk food, desserts, sweets, sugars, sodas, and processed food.  Try to eat only “real foods”.  Be sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day.   As you pray this week, allow God to speak to you about how you should care for the one and only body that He has entrusted you with.

Action Step Suggestions

  • Continue to spend daily time with God through Scripture reading, prayer and worship.
  • Memorize this week’s memory verse.
  • Continue to journal your thoughts and experiences.
  • Make exercise a part of your daily routine.
  • Visit those who are sick or shut-in. Pray for their comfort and healing.
  • Ask God to reveal things that contribute to unhealthy/ungodly habits.
  • Confront areas of conflict, bitterness and unforgiveness in your life and seek God’s reconciliation and healing.

Plan Ahead

This Saturday you will be encouraged to visit someone who is sick or is a shut-in.  The goal is to encourage them with a meal, prayer, or gift.  Start praying now that God would lead you toward someone to bless.  Start believing now that God will use you to pray for their healing and God’s strength.

“Do you not know that our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, who you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.”
– 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
