Week Three – Day 2
TODAY’S FAST – After school or work, fast from all media technology including video games, tv, computers, and internet to spend quality time with God and your family.
Devotional:
Read Romans 8:16-17.
Adoption is a beautiful thing. If you know a family that has adopted a child, it is certain to be a story of hope and joy. An adopted child is given all the rights and privileges of family when they had none of their own.
One of the reasons adoption stories tug at our heart strings is because they are a demonstration of the Gospel. In Christ we have been adopted into God’s family. We are given the privilege of the Holy Spirit. We are welcomed before the Father. We are brothers and sisters with the Son. We have the rights of an heir. We are no longer in a position where we must be fearful of the Master or worry about whether or not he accepts us. We are his children and he is our Father. We will dwell with him forever.
Prayer Focus:
Thank you for the adoption that we have in Jesus so we can come to you as Father. Thank you for sending Jesus to pay the price of my adoption. Help me to trust in your great love for me even when suffering and trials come. Cause the hope of the resurrection to fill me with joy today. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Key Verse:
“But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.” Galatians 4:4-7 NIV
