Week Three – Day 2

TODAY’S FAST – After school or work, fast from all media technology including video games, tv, computers, and internet to spend quality time with God and your family.

This famous passage of Scripture supplies answers to some of life’s foundational questions. In answer to the question, “What must I do with my life?” this text tells us, “You must love!” The Bible tells us that God is love, that love is His nature, that love is the royal law, and that love is greater even than hope and faith!  What am I to do with my life?  I am to love.

After the “what” question comes the “whom” question. Whom should I love? To whom should my life of love be directed?  Again, our passage provides the answer: God! You must love the Lord your God.

Then, the “how” question: How should I love God?  With all my heart, all my soul and all my strength! This is not to be a part-time, half-hearted endeavor. Rather, using all of my energy, all of my resources, and all of my faculties, I am to pursue a life of loving God with an undivided heart and passion.

Prayer Focus:

Thank you for the adoption that we have in Jesus so we can come to you as Father. Thank you for sending Jesus to pay the price of my adoption. Help me to trust in your great love for me even when suffering and trials come. Cause the hope of the resurrection to fill me with joy today. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

Key Verse:

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”
Deuteronomy 6:5-7 NIV
